A little bit about me
My husband (Matt) and I have been married for 6 years this past June. We have two wonderful boys; Justin turned 4 in May and Luke who turned 3 in February. We made the decision for me to stay home with the boys, at least until they go to school. When I am not being a stay at home mom, I am a Secondary level teacher. My specialty is Biology and I also have a master's degree in teaching and curriculum. I love to teach but I am truly blessed that I can stay home with the boys. Another passion that I have is coaching basketball. I am one of the directors of Steal City Basketball and I am a coach of one of the teams. I run this program seasonally from January to June.
Before starting my own family, I came from a family of 7; my parents and 4 younger sisters. We are that crazy, loud italian family. We enjoy spending time together and being active. My sisters and I have a special bond in that we all enjoy basketball. I had earned a basketball scholarship and played for 4 years. Being active and coming from an italian household, I ate a lot of food with no worries. I was lucky and had a relatively good build for as much as I ate and the types of foods that I ate.
However, once I graduated school my figure started to change. I was still relatively active playing basketball here and there, but I had to watch my caloric intake. I have tried counting calories and stripping my food intake to the basics, and have lasted only a short period of time. It becomes tiring eating the same things over and over, and counting the number of calories you take in all day long.
Then when I got married, I began cooking my own meals. I was more conscious of what I was putting in my dishes. However, it was not enough once I had Justin. I never got out of my maternity pants between my 2 boys. More determined than ever I made a decision after Luke was born to get back to my old self. Again, I tried counting calories, but that only worked for 3 weeks. I also knew, the sporadic walks I was taking would not do the trick to get me back in shape. I was so tired of how I looked and it was greatly affecting my mood. That is when I decided to make a change. I got in contact with a friend that is a beachbody coach and joined one of her challenges. After the second day, I knew I made the right decision. Working with a coach and being connected to a group of people going through the same process, made me commit to my health. It is easy to fall into old habits but when you have a support group pushing you and challenging you to do your best you find success.
After finding success in the challenge group I decided to become a beachbody coach myself. I enjoy helping others by nature. Coaching and teaching is what I love to do, and I would love to help others like myself who are unhappy with how they look. I believe everyone can make a change, but I truly feel everyone needs a coach to help guide them to become a better version of themselves. This is why I am now a beachbody coach.
