Today's post is inspired by the events of life. Today was just one of those days, so as my children nap I am trying to relax and and reflect a little on life. I am not a detailed planner and I never have been. My husband is the polar opposite, to the point where he has the nickname Mr. Itinerary! I grew up with a house full of people, and as the oldest of 5 girls it was hard to plan and get out the door on time. So I never felt the need to plan everyday life because plans were always changing. I am finding that my laid back attitude on life helps me to cope with the craziness of having two young boys close in age.
So let's talk real life. Spilled milk, pee on the floor (potty training), leaking diapers, spilled snacks, therapy, colds, toys everywhere, and overall chaos. I am a stay at home mom and a wife, and I will atest that there is never a dull moment. There is always something to do, and when you think, wow I have everything under control for once, something happens that throws you right back into chaos. Recently, I have found that sometimes no matter how much chaos there is or how much needs done, it can wait because your whole world can change in an instant, and I will elaborate later in this blog.
So why am I talking about all of this on my blog. Well to prove life is not perfect and life is hectic. My health and fitness journey is not flawless, and that is why I am constantly working to better my health. Of course I have my break downs, where chocolate or a glass of wine is desparately needed (today was chocolate cake). However, I have realized how important it is for me to be healthy and fit. Beachbody has allowed me to get in the best shape of my life. All while balancing the crazy schedules of my young boys and working from home part time. When my coach introduced me to Beachbody, it was an easy decision to join. I did not have the time to go to the gym or the know how to be effective in my workouts. Also, I did not want to have to pay a trainer to hold me accountable, like my coach does for me. So in just 25 minutes a day working out, drinking Shakeology, and practicing clean eating (which I learned from my coach) transformed my life.
This transformation, has made me a better mom and wife. How? Well I have more energy and feel better about myself. As many of you know, if you do not feel good about yourself, it is hard to live life fully, and those around you are affected. Joining Beachbody and transforming my life has given me confidence. That confidence has allowed me to inspire, motivate, and impact others lives. My journey is never ending, and my transformation is never final. Life's events can throw you off your game some days, and guess what, it happens; but it is how you bounce back that makes the difference in your journey.
My life is by no means perfect, it is crazy, it is chaotic, and I am real. You never know what life is going to throw your way, so how you react is what defines your journey. I have definitely been humbled in the past year, through life events. In the past 13 months, we have endured challenges as a family that many people do not experience in a life time. When our second son was born he contracted menengitis, and was hospitalized for 2 weeks. This was a very scary and emotional time for my husband and I. Additionally, our son Justin really struggled with anxiety because of our absence due to attending to Luke. In the fall Justin was tested and it was revealed that he had some speech problems and has 3 sessions of therapy a week. Our latest adventure was my personal battle with sarcoma. So, life does throw curve balls at you, and nothing is perfect.
So to end this blog, I just want to say I am not perfect. I only try to lead by being the best example possible, while being real. This allows me to help others achieve something that is so vital to life, and that is health. If you are ready to start your journey, or just get more serious about it, I am here to support you. There is nothing you can't do if you put you mind to it, and put in a little effort. Your health is so important to those around you. Because of decision to get healthy, I stand here today sarcoma free, as far as we know. Take your life back and get serious about your health. As parents we put our kids first and many times we let our health go by the wayside. Let me ask you, if you continue to live your life as is, are you able going to be able to actively interact with your energetic children? Or if your health is in serious jeopardy, will you be around to watch your children graduate high school, get married, and have children of their own. When you think about it this way, caring for yourself makes you a better parent. You do not need to make a huge commitment, just 30 minutes a day and you can transform your life!
